Ø Conferences: GCC CIGRE started – as from 2003 – to organize an international conference every two years (odd years) in one of GCC member countries under the title “GCC POWER” , after 2006 GCC CIGRE stareted to orgnize this conference every year, the main objective is to discuss various aspects pertaining to the Electricity sector in GCC Countries through panel discussions addressed by VIPs and decision makers in the filed in addition to Technical Session where technical papers are presented by experts, researchers and academician from different GCC Countries and beyond
Ø Seminars: Since 1998 and up to 2002, GCC CIGRE used to organize annual seminars dedicated to the discussion of a vital subject in the field of electric power systems. Difficulties and obstacles facing the sector are mainly focused upon to suggest suitable solutions and reach at practical recommendations that contribute towards the development of the electricity sector. Recently GCC CIGRE decided to organize its seminars every two years (even years) as its conferences are scheduled in odd years; this contiued till the 15th seminar which orgnized in 2006 to be the last seminar for GCC CIGRE.
Ø Exhibition: Since 1995, GCC CIGRE started to organize Electric Equipment Exhibitions alongside its seminars and conferences. The objective is to encourage Gulf electric equipment manufacturers find access to a sector of users and others concerned with the electricity industry. This would also make it possible to compare the different products and allow follow up of the latest.
Ø Awards: GCC CIGRE offers an annual prize for the three best-applied research papers presented in its conferences and seminars and have direct relevancy to GCC electric systems.
Ø Information & Publications: GCC CIGRE publishes an annual technical magazine called “Al-Khaleej Electricity”, a statistical bulletin featuring figures of electricity power production, distribution and consumption in GCC Countries in addition to a newsletter covering information on the conferences, seminars and other related activities of interest to GCC electricity sectors
Ø Studies & Researches: Recently (4) Study committees have been formed with the purpose of organizing and conducting studies and researches to upgrade the technology and enhance the related knowledge. Main activity concentrates on the definition of the technical issues and areas, which require joint cooperation between all those involved with the electricity sector in Gcc countries.
Ø Relations with “Cigre International ”: “GCC CIGRE” is a member of International Cigre’s Administrative Council. As such, it endeavors to help its members acquire membership in “Cigre International” study committees and attend the international conferences & seminar held by the mother Cigre. GCC CIGRE is also a member of Cigre’s technical Committee and is represented in several study committees managed by Cigre International:
