- Planning for the electric systems particularly long-term and studying all factors which may raise the productivity, improve the reliability standard and minimize the cost, taking into account all affecting constraints including the operational and ecological conditions.
- The electrical system interconnection with the Eastern Arab Countries as this subject receives considerable importance in the GCC Countries and also reduces the major costs for the systems and exchange of operational and practical expertise .
- Laying down major strategies in the planning field and exchange of energy and control of grid networks.
- Studying the feasibility to use the techniques of load management and work out to develop these techniques in such a manner to suit the operational and environmental conditions of GCC Member States as well as exchange of experience in this field.
- Compiling the basic data from the practical and actual experience and assessing them periodically. Using the computers in the planning and operation of these systems and in the exchange of experience in this field, and developing the necessary techniques and capabilities in this domain.
- Emphasizing on the environmental protection against pollution resulting from the electrical and chemical industries and considering them in the major strategies when preparing the long term plans for the electrical systems.
- Continuing to conduct studies on the various effects of the electro-magnetic fields generated from the transmission lines on the public heath so that to obtain definite results in this field. These results have to be taken into consideration at the time of planning, designing and operating the electric systems in GCC Countries.
- Training the national cadres and giving attention to promote their efficiency in the field of planning, commissioning and maintaining the electrical systems, through organizing training courses locally and abroad.
